I feel happy.
Omg.
Hi, I'm Chiui dela Cruz. I like books, Korean music, Asian languages, cat GIFs, the internet, pasta, lettuce, the smell of coffee and plastic (a.k.a the smell of airplanes), thrift stores, hipster jokes, and coolness. So hello people. I am back. For a day, at least. Ugh. I wanted to blog about a different thing, but naah.
Anyway, some people are asking me to create a Me2day tutorial. I blogged about Me2day a couple of weeks ago. It’s like a Korean version of Twitter.
In case you didn’t know, the Korean pop girl band called 2NE1 (Yes, that group where Sandara Park is)’s members all have Me2day accounts. And then, G-Dragon recently signed up for Me2day. People went all crazy. Even those who cannot read, write, or understand Korean tried to sign up for it.
The thing is, how are you supposed to use Me2day if you can’t read hangul? I mean, the navs are all in Korean. All the people update in Korean. Yeah, you might say you could use an online translator when there’s a need to understand all the updates, but then that would not work. Koreans have their internet lingo, too. Online translators are not reliable with those things. So how are you going to do it? What are you going to do with your account if you can’t even sign up for it all by yourself? It’s pointless. Really pointless.
It’s a different case if you’re a learner of the language. I actually suggest you sign up for it if you really wanna learn, but you need to master your hangul first, or at least Hangul reading and basic writing, since you’re definitely going to need it. If you think your hangul can now be trusted, you can now go ahead. I see Me2day as something we can use for grammar practice, and for culture studies. And for fun, of course.
I really, really won’t ever change my mind. I will never teach you how to sign up for it. Because:
1. You’re not going to benefit from Me2day without learning Korean.
2. If you really want to learn Korean, you’ll put some effort into signing up for it all by yourself.
And gosh, if you really want to sign up just to follow G-Dragon or 2ne1, then just go to their me2day accounts and see their updates! You can, even without an account! But you can’t post a response. But that isn’t that bad, since even if you have an account and you’re not studying Korean, nothing will change. Besides, these celebrities do not even reply to your comments. Nope, they don’t. So get over it.
But I know some fangirls or some other random people will really insist on signing up for Me2day. Try googling tutorials. I’ve seen one, and go ahead. At least I have a stand: I won’t teach you, people. Even though it’s my passion to teach, I won’t. Because discipline is also part of the passion of teaching.
PS: My Korean is not fluent/I am not Korean. I am still studying the language. Ugh, saying these things kinda gets tiring, but oh well.
