Book Recommendations (Week 1)

If you’re looking for good books to read, here’s list of 5 good ones you might want to try :3 Handpicked by me, of course. Who else, pft. I’m going to try to list 5 every week. Now I know weekly blogging gimmicks aren’t my thing, but I’m going to try anyway.

I really suck at book reviews by the way.

5. Like Water For Chocolate by Laura Esquivel

My rating: 4/5
Recommends it for: People who are in love with cooking and romance!
Comments: This book will remind you of Asian TV dramas, but it’s like the awesome version of those TV dramas.

4. Damned by Chuck Palahniuk

My rating: 3.5/5
Recommends it for: Anyone with wild minds :3
Comments: Um… this is a Palahniuk book. Expect it to be crazy. In a way, it makes hell look really funny. By the way, don’t let this book get to you too much especially when it comes to your faith ;D Don’t be too shaky now.

3. The Gaze by Elif Safak

My rating: 4/5
Recommends it for: Readers who love parallelism in literature. Readers who love unusually beautiful stories < 3
Comments: Seriously, I'm going to buy my own copy of this. I just borrowed from the library when I read this. This novel is so beautifully written that it made me sigh after I finished reading it.

2. The History of Love by Nicole Krauss

My rating: 4.5/5
Recommends it for: EVERYONE… who loves words and LOVE.
Comments: BEAUTIFUL. This novel is BEAUTIFUL. It’s like The Gaze. I love this the same way I love The Gaze, but maybe I love it tiny bit more because of how beautiful this book is. You won’t regret reading this. It may be about love, but it’s not just about romance.

1. The Hunger Games by Suzanne Collins

My rating: 4.8/5 (really close to 5… but not 5!)
Recommends it for: EVERYONE. Really everyone this time!
Comments: The movie is coming out soon! You have to read this! ;D It’s really… unputdownable although it has its obvious flaws.

Let me know if you decide to read any of these books. I’d love to talk about these books with other people. Hooray!
